Job description

Position Summary

We are searching for a Mechanical Team Lead to manage a team of mechanical engineers, EITs, and designers at HDR’s Wichita, Kansas location.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Mechanical Business Class Leader with management and culture of the overall business class by supervising a team of mechanical engineers, EITs, and designers with varying experience levels.
• Collaborate with fellow Mechanical Team Leads and the Mechanical Business Class Leader on work staffing and project proposals.
• Provide team leadership focused on technical excellence, quality, recruiting, mentoring, and staff development.
• Work closely with mechanical market sector leadership to ensure technical excellence in key markets including commercial, civic, industrial, federal, water, transportation, education, laboratories, and mission‑critical facilities.
• Act as design lead and/or engineering project manager for key projects.
• Implement, monitor, and support company policy.
• Collaborate with other team leads, business class leaders, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers on business class efforts.
• Encourage and participate in work-sharing and mechanical practice development across HDR’s national Mechanical Business Class.
• Assist the Mechanical Business Class Leader in recruiting and growing the business class.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a mechanical emphasis.
• Experience developing and managing diverse teams.
• Preference given to local candidates.
