Job summary

Firestorm in San Diego, CA seeks a Mechanical Engineering Senior Manager to lead airframes, structures, and integration hardware for sUAS platforms, setting standards and driving producibility.

This role combines technical leadership with people leadership, building a high‑performing team, mentoring engineers, and partnering with manufacturing, quality, and program management to deliver on aggressive timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering; 10+ years in mechanical engineering
• Experience in aerospace/defense hardware industries
• 5+ years Direct people management experience
• Demonstrated history of building high‑performing teams
• Deep technical credibility in mechanical design and GD&T

Responsibilities

• Set design standards and directing mechanical output
• Lead design reviews and manage producibility and packaging
• Drive change control and configuration management at scale
• Partner with manufacturing and quality on producibility and inspections
• Represent mechanical engineering in cross‑functional IPTs and program reviews
• Plan and resource work across programs; balance development and sustaining engineering
