Job summary

Firestorm in San Diego, CA, seeks a Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead airframes, structures, and integration hardware for our sUAS platforms. You will direct technical strategy, drive design reviews, and own team development across engineering disciplines.

You will hire, mentor, and grow engineers, partnering with manufacturing and quality to ensure producibility and timely delivery on aggressive schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience in aerospace/defense or similar.
• 5+ years of direct people management and hiring experience.
• Demonstrated history of building high-performing engineering teams.
• Deep technical credibility in mechanical design, GD&T, and DFM.
• Experience leading designs from concept to production and change control.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for mechanical engineering across aircraft platforms.
• Lead design reviews and ensure producibility and quality.
• Hire, mentor, and develop engineers across levels.
• Plan and resource work across multiple programs; manage schedules and risks.
• Drive transition from prototype to rate production and support tests.
