Job summary

Core States Group is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineering Designer to join our Architecture and Engineering team in Bellevue with hybrid work options. You will design and draft mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, and fire protection, coordinating with site and electrical engineers, architects, and project managers to produce construction documents.

The role focuses on code-compliant design development, client requirements, and site adjustments, with collaboration

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
• 4+ years of experience with general building mechanical design production, preferably with commercial projects such as retail, restaurants, grocery, financial, and/or convenience stores.
• EIT preferred, not required.
• Revit, AutoCAD, MS Office required
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to identify practical uses for company-approved AI tools to improve team processes, support better decisions, and increase efficiency
• Demonstrated ability to review AI-generated content for accuracy, protect confidential information, and remain responsible for the final work product

Responsibilities

• Conduct site feasibility research and site visit investigations as well as generate reports/recommendations based on findings.
• Assist in maintaining task budgets.
• Coordinate and assist with addendums, RFI's and change orders.
• Assist in coordinating the work of a multi-disciplined team throughout the design development and contract document phases of a project.
• Assist senior staff with the project approval process.
• Other related responsibilities as necessary to fulfill the objectives of this role.

Salary Range: $40.00 To $58.00 Hourly

This role is paid on an hourly basis with a range of $40-$58 and is eligible for overtime in accordance with applicable laws. The expected approximate annualized compensation range is $85,000–$120,000.

Summary of the role

As a Sr Mechanical Engineering Designer supporting our Architecture and Engineering business unit, you will be responsible for designing and drafting mechanical engineering projects under the guidance of Mechanical Engineers/Project Managers. The scope of design will include HVAC, plumbing/piping, refrigeration, fire protection, and fuel systems. As part of a multi-disciplined firm, you will coordinate with Site/Civil Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Structural Engineers, Architects, and Construction Project Managers. You will be responsible for the production of mechanical engineering construction documents while adhering to client requirements, code requirements, and site adjustments.

Work Location

This is a remote or hybrid (1 or 2 days a week in the office) position based out of the following Core States Group offices: Kent, Puyallup, or Bellevue, WA. We’re open to a remote candidate living in Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, Nevada, or Idaho.
