Job summary

Core States Group is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineering Designer to support its Architecture and Engineering business unit in designing and drafting mechanical engineering projects. The role includes HVAC, plumbing, and refrigeration systems, with opportunities to work hybrid or remote from various states including California.

Summary of the Role

As a Sr. Mechanical Engineering Designer supporting our Architecture and Engineering business unit, you will design and draft mechanical engineering projects under the guidance of Mechanical Engineers/Project Managers. Scope includes HVAC, plumbing/piping, refrigeration, fire protection, and fuel systems. You will coordinate with Site/Civil Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Structural Engineers, Architects, and Construction Project Managers, and produce mechanical engineering construction documents while adhering to client requirements, code requirements, and site adjustments.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design tasks and reports under senior staff direction.
• Conduct site feasibility research, site visit investigations, and generate reports/recommendations.
• Assist in maintaining task budgets.
• Coordinate and assist with addendums, RFIs and change orders.
• Coordinate the work of a multi‑disciplined team through design development and contract document phases.
• Assist senior staff with the project approval process.
• Other related responsibilities as necessary to fulfill the objectives of this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
• 4+ years of experience in general building mechanical design production, preferably with commercial projects such as retail, restaurants, grocery, financial, and/or convenience stores.
• EIT preferred, not required.
• Revit, AutoCAD, MS Office required.

Work Location

This is a remote or hybrid (1 or 2 days a week in the office) position based out of Kent, Puyallup, or Bellevue, WA, but we also accept remote candidates from Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, or Nevada.
