Job summary

Teledyne Technologies Incorporated is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for Teledyne RD Instruments to design, analyze, test, and support mechanical and electro‑mechanical products used in underwater acoustic instrumentation. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and 5+ years of directly related experience
• Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks or similar 3D modeling programs
• Knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and tolerance analysis
• Experience with machined metal components, castings, plastics and polymers
• Experience designing underwater instrumentation, oceanographic equipment or subsea hardware
• US Person status for ITAR-Controlled Technical Data access

Responsibilities

• Designs mechanical components, assemblies, housings, mounting structures, pressure vessels and underwater deployment hardware
• Performs tolerance stack‑up analyses, material selection, stress calculations and thermal analyses
• Develops SolidWorks models, engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation
• Conducts FEA to validate structural integrity under pressure, shock, vibration and environmental loading
• Designs for manufacturability, reliability, cost optimization and regulatory compliance
• Evaluates sealing methods and corrosion mitigation for subsea applications
• Leads prototype development, testing, verification and qualification activities
• Supports hydrostatic pressure testing and environmental qualification testing
• Collaborates with production, procurement, quality and suppliers to transition designs to production
• Drives corrective actions and design improvements from field feedback
• Supports sustaining engineering for existing ADCP and DVL product lines
