Job summary

Array Tech, Inc. seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer—Sustaining to lead mechanical design and sustaining efforts for solar tracker components. You will drive product vision, develop and improve designs, and coordinate with management, engineering, and product teams.

Expect hands-on CAD/FEA work, DFMA/DFMEA analysis, and cross-functional collaboration. The role requires extensive experience in mechanical design, FEA, and design for cost, with proficiency in SolidWorks and 3D CAD.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
  • 10+ years developing mechanical components and systems.
  • 8+ years performing mechanical engineering hand-calculations.
  • 8+ years designing structural components and hardware, gearing and/or drivetrains.
  • 8+ years of experience utilizing FEA, DFMA and design for cost in development of new products.
  • 5+ years using 3D CAD software.
  • 5+ years defining design validation tests.
  • 4+ years with Stage Gate Product Development processes.
  • 2+ years using SolidWorks.
  • 10+ years using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in the solar industry.
  • Design and component experience across multiple fabrication methods for steel, aluminum, and polymers.
  • Excellent communication and team building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead responses to engineering change requests for assigned parts.
  • Lead root cause analyses and redesigns addressing field failures.
  • Lead other engineers on programs and projects as needed.
  • Provide clear direction to cross-functional teams to meet targets.
  • Develop and manage roadmaps for assigned products.
  • Create and interpret DFMA/DFMEA/FEA analyses.
  • Create Design Requirements Documents (DRD) from MRD.
  • Plan component/system tests and interpret results.
  • Mentor developing engineers.
  • Coordinate development schedules and communicate issues across teams.
  • Oversee testing and analysis for product safety and efficacy.
  • Travel to project sites as required.

We’re looking to you to play a critical role in the development and support of leading-edge, industry-defining solar tracker components and more. You will lead our advancements in tracker product vision, innovation, enhancements, and improvements, as you drive our next-generation products and features. Working with multiple levels of management, engineering, and other departments, you will create and select state-of-the-art technologies and products.You will utilize tools such as computer aided design (CAD), finite element analysis (FEA) and design for manufacturability and assembly (DFMA) and failure modes and effects analysis (DFMEA). This position may require occasional evening and weekend hours.
