Job summary

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (OTS) seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in solid rocket motor ballistics to support the Solid Rocket Motor Engineering Team. You will perform detailed ballistic analyses, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and provide technical leadership across the program.

This full-time role offers a 9/80 schedule with remote work available; onsite options include Huntsville, AL, Niceville, FL, or Hampton, AR facilities, and travel

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree and 5-7 years' experience required.
• Engineering degree required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Applies engineering techniques to design, install, modify, analyze, repair and test tools, engines, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment.
• Reads and interprets blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
• Confers with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
• Researches and analyzes customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements.
• Specifies system components or directs modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
• Investigates equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to maintenance crew.
