Job summary

Akima Infrastructure Services is seeking a senior mechanical design engineer to develop and refine designs and documentation for complex subsystems. You will apply fluid dynamics data and test results to system designs while coordinating with cross-disciplinary engineering teams.

The role requires ABET-accredited engineering credentials and 10+ years of relevant experience, with a Secret clearance obtainable.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in an ABET-accredited engineering discipline.
• Candidate should have 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
• Master’s degree is a plus.
• Extensive CAD experience is required.
• Defense or aerospace experience is preferred.
• SETA contributions are expected.
• Familiarity with system architecture and requirements decomposition.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine mechanical designs and documentation.
• Assess subsystem capabilities and apply fluid dynamics studies and test data to system designs.
• Support SETA activities, design reviews, integration, risk assessments, technical reporting and testing.
• Coordinate with stakeholders across engineering disciplines.
