Job description

HART Technologies, Inc. is looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our tactical systems development team at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD).

The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of Engineers to deliver tactical control systems and supporting hardware to a variety of DOD customers. Candidates who are mission-oriented, organized, and enjoy a fast-paced team environment are encouraged to apply for this unique opportunity.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design, develop and integrate mechanical components in support of tactical programs, ensuring adherence to defined program requirements and relevant standards for environmental protection, EMI/RFI shielding, and physical component protection.
  2. Utilize Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and mechanical engineering skills for the development of new designs and maintenance and enhancement of existing systems, providing formal and informal feedback as to areas of improvement in cost, manufacturability, and reliability.
  3. Ensure design compliance with applicable industry and government standards (CE, UL, etc.) for assigned products and recommend design materials based on performance requirements, weight limitations, and manufacturability.
  4. Develop models and drawings of complex assemblies using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software such as SolidWorks.
  5. Support hands-on integration and test activities.

Required:

  1. U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DOD Security Clearance.
  2. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  3. 8+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience.
  4. Proficiency with 3D Modeling / Design and evaluation tools.
  5. Experience using manufacturing equipment to produce rapid prototypes; 3D printers, Laser Cutters, Waterjet, Milling Machines, Hand Tools, etc.
  6. Knowledge of DOD and NATO standards and certification processes.
  7. Active DoD Security Clearance is highly preferred.
