Job summary

Machina Labs is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own the mechanical hardware design for robotic sheet forming cells, taking concepts through release and into production.

You will define interfaces, lead design and manufacturability reviews, and collaborate with Robotics, Forming Process, Electrical, Controls, and Production to ensure reliable operation. Onsite in Chatsworth, CA, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of mechanical design for robotics, industrial machinery, or automation equipment.
• Strong CAD skills and fabrication-ready drawings with GD&T for machined, welded, and sheet metal parts.
• Experience with design verification: test plans and data-driven iterations.
• Strong fundamentals in material selection and failure modes.

Responsibilities

• Own the design of machine hardware through release, including robot end-of-arm tooling and structural hardware.
• Define mechanical, fluid, and electrical interfaces and manage change control.
• Design integrated fluid and thermal systems for cooling and actuation.
• Integrate sensing with electrical and controls teams; lead design reviews.
• Lead production and supplier interactions to ensure quality and durability.
