Come be a part of a workplace where your ideas are valued, your growth is encouraged, and your contributions make a real impact. Join us in shaping the future of transformative technology – together.

The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer who is excited to bring ideas to life through thoughtful, hands‑on design. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to develop and test mechanical concepts, from overall packaging strategies to detailed mechanisms and components, while balancing function, aesthetics, and cost. This is a hybrid position where most weeks will require between 2 and 4 days in‑office, with the potential for frequent travel to local client sites.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, advise and assist a team of engineers to execute projects, ensuring on‑time submission of deliverables.
  • Provide guidance to junior team members.
  • Work with teams to design and test mechanical concepts for overall packaging strategies, mechanisms, and parts – all while balancing function, appearance, form, and budgetary requirements.
  • Provide DFX expertise to ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability, serviceability, and sustainability.
  • Work independently with clients or as a lead/team member on larger projects.
  • Manage and facilitate client interactions with clear communication as it relates to deliverables, design reviews and deadlines.
  • Communicate with senior management any significant deviations from project plans.
  • Coordinate internal team staffing and budget requirements for projects.
  • Be a positive and success‑oriented individual who is familiar with the latest product development, production, and rapid prototype methodologies.
  • Work with team members to resolve conflicts among resources and between clients and engineering teams.
  • Remain apprised of the progress of certain projects, paying particular attention to any developing problems, and participate in major problem resolutions.
  • Be proficient in the latest version of SolidWorks CAD package.
  • Keep all privileged information private and confidential.
  • Travel as needed (valid driver’s license and vehicle required).
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of direct mechanical engineering experience.
  • Industrial automation or robotics experience.
  • Mechanical design and DFX, particularly with respect to sheet metal, machining and weldments.
  • 2D drawing creation, GD&T.
  • PLM.
  • Tolerance analysis.
  • Sustaining engineering.
  • Project management and team leadership.
Our Benefits
  • Flexible Time Off: Benefit from our generous flexible time off policy. We also provide sick leave and bereavement time because we understand that not all time off is for fun.
  • Retirement Savings: Invest in your future with a 401(k)‑retirement plan. Goddard contributes 3% of your annual salary directly into your 401(k) account—regardless of your own contributions.
  • Health Coverage: Access to comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance for you and your family. Goddard contributes 80% of monthly premiums for all medical plan options.
  • Family Support: To take the time you need to welcome the newest member of your family, Goddard offers 6 weeks fully paid parental leave with support of PFML state programs.
  • Company Engagement: Engage with your colleagues through a variety of regular company and team events, including weekly social hours, Athletic Club outings, and department outings.
