Job summary

BurnBot is seeking an experienced mechanical engineer to own the major platform-level systems used on our remote fire suppression machines. You will guide concept through build, and directly address field failures that improve reliability and safety in harsh environments.

You will collaborate with suppliers, in-house teams, and field crews to optimize chassis, hydraulics, and structures. Onsite work in South San Francisco with occasional travel to field sites across the West Coast is required.

Qualifications

• Platform-level mechanical systems experience (chassis, weldments, drivetrain, hydraulics) and field-ready designs.
• Make-versus-buy decisions with off-highway/agricultural suppliers.
• Durability considerations: heat, vibration, dust, long shift work.

Responsibilities

• Own platform-level mechanical systems end to end from concept to field release.
• Lead detail design, release drawings, tolerance stacks, and GD&T with vendors and shops.
• Set and execute test programs, learn from field failures, and improve designs.
