Qualifications

• End-to-end mechanical design experience for industrial facilities.
• Experience reviewing designs on industrial/manufacturing projects with redlines and early conflict detection.
• Strong knowledge of wet and dry systems: HVAC, plumbing, cooling towers, chillers, pumps, AHUs.
• Familiar with ICC, ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, ASME, ANSI; IMC/IPC/NFPA familiarity.
• Experience handling AHJ permits, RFIs, submittals with EOR and GC; drive RFI closure.

Our client, a leading industrial construction and engineering organization, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineerto join their team. As a Mechanical Engineer V, you will be part of the engineering effort supporting Data CenterConstruction activities. The ideal candidate will bring strong mechanical design review skills, the ability to coordinate effectively with an Engineer of Record and General Contractor, and the drive to independently resolve RFIs and submittals to keep projects aligned with approved design intent.

Location: Austin, TX - Fully remote with occasional travel onsite to Austin, TX during the assignment.

Pay Range: $140 per hour on Experis W2

What's the Job?

• Review and validate mechanical design packages for Factory 1, covering both wet and dry systems, including HVAC, plumbing, cooling towers, and chillers, plus structural coordination.
• Ensure designs comply with IMC, IPC, NFPA, local AHJ requirements, and Company standards.
• Coordinate with the Engineer of Record (EOR), General Contractor (GC), and internal stakeholders to resolve RFIs, design conflicts, and constructability issues.
• Support permit submissions and review contractor submittals within the mechanical scope to confirm alignment with approved design intent.
• Conduct mechanical design reviews across engineering and construction milestones, including HVAC and fire protection review during the design stage.

What's Needed?

• End-to-end mechanical design experience for industrial facilities, from concept through permit/construction-ready drawings.
• Mechanical design review and validation experience on industrial or manufacturing construction projects, including red-lining drawings and identifying coordination conflicts early.
• Strong knowledge of wet & dry mechanical systems: HVAC, plumbing, process cooling, cooling towers, and chillers; cooling water systems (chillers, towers, heat exchangers, pumps); and air distribution systems (AHUs, terminal units, fans, dehumidification, exhaust).
• Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including ICC, ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, ASME, and ANSI, with familiarity with IMC, IPC, and NFPA.
• Experience taking packages through local AHJ permit review and performing RFI/submittal review with an EOR and GC, including independently dispositioning submittals and driving RFI closure.
