TYLin’s Rail + Transit team is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design high-performance HVAC and ventilation systems for major transit projects in the New York region, including tunnels and stations. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
• 10+ years mechanical engineering experience in rail, transit, tunnels, or complex building systems.
• Strong HVAC and ventilation design expertise for enclosed/underground environments.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC for rail stations, tunnels, and transit facilities.
• Coordinate vertical transportation systems including elevators.
• Prepare contract drawings, specs, reports, and design documentation.
• Perform calculations, sizing, and airflow/system modeling.
• Apply NFPA, ASHRAE, and transit authority codes and standards.
• Collaborate with architects, structures, electrical, and life-safety teams.
• Support QA/QC reviews and design excellence.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical growth.
