Job summary

Salas O’Brien seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer/Project Manager for our Lakewood, CO office. You’ll apply engineering principles with a leadership role on diverse projects, mentoring junior staff, and delivering high-quality design for health and science facilities.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years of building design experience, PE registration, and a track record in data centers, healthcare, or laboratories, with strong CAD/REVIT/CFD skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• Minimum of ten years of building design experience in the MEP industry.
• Professional Engineer registration and ability to obtain in Colorado.
• Experience in data centers, healthcare, central utility plants, or laboratories is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical systems for commercial buildings.
• Takes ownership of all project aspects.
• Prepare small proposals and client presentations.
• Produce change orders for out-of-scope work.
• Establish and maintain client relationships.
• Serve as project manager for mechanical and electrical projects.
• Resolve payment issues with clients.
• Forecast staffing needs for projects.
• Plan and schedule project production with lead engineers.
• Track budgets, schedules, and tasks.
• Coordinate with internal team members (engineers, admins, drafters).
• Coordinate with external owners, architects, and sub consultants.
• Participate in or lead meetings with clients/owners.
