Job summary

Hoerbiger Positioning / PI (Physik Instrumente), LP seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and optimize high-precision motion instruments from concept to production. You will create advanced 3D CAD models, perform rigorous tolerance analyses, and collaborate across electrical, controls, and manufacturing teams to ensure performance and reliability.

The role emphasizes precision mechanics, kinematic structures, and thermally stable architectures, with hands-on prototype testing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or closely related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience designing and releasing mechanical systems from concept through production.
• Strong proficiency with 3D CAD software for complex assemblies and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of mechanical components and system architectures for high-precision motion instruments.
• Own mechanical design execution from concept through production release; make technical decisions and validate designs.
• Develop 3D CAD models, drawings, and documentation with GD&T adherence.
• Perform tolerance stack-ups, error budgets, and FEA to ensure performance and stability.
• Design precision mechanisms and motion systems including thermally stable architectures.
• Lead prototype development, integration, and testing of motion systems.
