Job summary

Kiewit Power Engineering in Lenexa, KS, is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical scope for complex power projects. You will guide safe, constructible, and cost-effective designs for greenfield and brownfield facilities, spanning simple-cycle and combined-cycle generation and other evolving power technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum 15 years of mechanical engineering and plant design experience in power generation.
• PE license; able to sign and seal work when required.
• Experience with EPC/Design-Build delivery models and front-end engineering.
• Strong knowledge of power plant systems and balance-of-plant equipment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the mechanical discipline technical authority for EPC power projects, accountable for execution and safety.
• Lead mechanical engineering from proposals through startup and commissioning.
• Develop and review P&IDs, equipment datasheets, and piping layouts.
• Lead design reviews, value engineering, and field walkdowns; incorporate construction feedback.
• Provide mentoring and establish mechanical engineering standards.
