Job summary

Ultimate Staffing Services in Durham, NC seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer for a 100% onsite role, focused on the full lifecycle design of custom manufacturing equipment for magnet production. The position blends mechanical and electrical design with hands-on fabrication oversight.

You will lead CAD development, perform FEA/CFD analyses, and collaborate with external shops to deliver precise parts while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 7+ years of experience.
• Master’s degree with 5+ years of experience.
• Expert-level CAD design and 2D/3D drawings with GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical and electrical design of custom manufacturing equipment.
• Coordinate with fabrication shops to turn designs into hardware.
• Provide on-the-floor support during assembly and testing.
• Perform stress, thermal, and CFD analyses to validate designs.
• Incorporate DFM for easy build, operation and maintenance.
• Ensure safety, environmental and ergonomic compliance.
• Develop 2D drawings and 3D CAD assemblies with GD&T.
• Manage BOMs and calibration procedures.
• Contribute to line layouts and cycle-time calculations.
