Job summary

CommScope is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its automation team in Shakopee, Minnesota. You will design and build custom automation equipment for fiber optic manufacturing, work onsite five days a week, and collaborate with global sites to drive quality, capacity, and cost improvements.

The role demands 8+ years of engineering experience, SolidWorks proficiency, and experience with PLCs/HMIs. Travel up to 15% and unrestricted work authorization are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field required.
• 8+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software.
• Experience with PLCs, HMIs, and industrial control systems.
• Willingness to travel up to 15% to global production locations.
• Unrestricted work authorization; no sponsorship required.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems for automation equipment.
• Lead design reviews and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
• Create manufacturable designs focused on ease of assembly and maintenance.
• Prepare complete design documentation including drawings, BOMs, and instructions.
• Perform hands-on assembly, calibration, testing, and qualification.
• Collaborate with global teams to ensure seamless integration of designs.
