As part of AFG, you'll work on some of the most advanced construction projects nationwide, growing your career alongside a diverse team of industry professionals.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core

ME Engineer Family - Core

  • Learns and actively participates in all aspects of the company's safety and quality plans and culture, demonstrating commitment to an injury-free environment through individual actions and mentoring others.
  • Completes entry-level and routine mechanical, electrical, and field construction activities.
  • Learns to develop budgetary M/E estimates based on program and schematic design information using automated M/E estimating systems.
  • Assists in reviewing mechanical and electrical options during preconstruction and completes systems analysis for select projects.
  • Learns to develop mechanical and electrical scopes of work for the bid process.
  • Assists in bid analysis and subcontractor selection process.
  • Assists in developing sequencing requirements and provides solutions to meet schedule requirements.
  • Gains knowledge of design documents to identify potential quality issues and develop constructability review reports.
  • Learns to perform job inspections to ensure specifications and expectations are met.
  • Assists with shop drawing/submittal processes to ensure compliance with contract documents.
  • Supports the commissioning process, including developing pre-functional checklists and testing procedures.
  • Promotes a culture of diversity and inclusion, understanding JE Dunn's non-discrimination policy.
Additional Core Responsibilities
  • Handles increasingly complex mechanical, electrical, and construction activities.
  • Develops and reviews estimates, systems analysis, and value engineering suggestions.
  • Coordinates scopes of work during bidding and develops sequencing and scheduling inputs.
  • Performs quality inspections and develops quality control programs.
  • Prepares and reviews pre-functional checklists, functional testing, and shop drawings.
  • Generates and implements the Commissioning Plan and verifies deficiencies are corrected.
  • Mentors less experienced team members and develops innovative tools and solutions.
  • Supports diversity and inclusion initiatives within JE Dunn.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to perform work accurately and efficiently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and basic understanding of construction M/E tools/software.
  • Ability to read plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of construction management methods.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships internally and externally.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, architectural engineering, or related field (Required).
  • Relevant experience considered in lieu of degree.
Experience
  • Minimum 5+ years of construction and/or engineering experience (Preferred).
Working Environment
  • Valid and unrestricted driver's license required.
