Job summary

GE HealthCare’s Neonatal Care team is seeking a Senior/Lead Mechanical Engineer to design incubators, warmers and connected care systems used worldwide. You will own mechanical design from concept through production, lead cross-functional efforts, and mentor engineers to deliver robust, manufacturable solutions that improve patient outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Requires a Mechanical Engineering degree and 8+ years of product development experience.
  • Strong CAD, GD&T, materials selection and DFM fundamentals.
  • Experience guiding products through development, testing and production.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design activities from concept development through production launch.
  • Develop thermal, structural, and electromechanical solutions.
  • Create and review 3D models, drawings, and documentation.
  • Conduct analyses including FEA, tolerance, and thermal assessments.
  • Drive Design for Excellence across manufacturability, reliability and cost.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead mechanical design activities from concept development through production launch
  • Develop innovative solutions for thermal, structural, and electromechanical systems
  • Create and review 3D models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation
  • Guide engineering analyses including FEA, tolerance analysis, and thermal assessments
  • Drive Design for Excellence practices including manufacturability, reliability, serviceability, and cost optimization
  • Participate in risk assessments, verification testing, and design validation activities
  • Partner closely with manufacturing teams to support design transfer and production readiness
  • Collaborate with software, systems, electrical, human factors, and clinical teams to develop integrated product solutions
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to technical reviews across multiple programs
Required Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • 8+ years of product development experience
  • Experience designing complex mechanical systems for commercial products
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals including CAD, GD&T, materials selection, and design for manufacturing
  • Experience supporting products through development, testing, and production
Experience In One Or More Of The Following Areas

Great engineers bring different strengths. Experience in several of the following areas is desirable:

  • Thermal system design and analysis
  • FEA and structural analysis
  • Injection-molded plastic design
  • Mechanisms and moving assemblies
  • Tolerance analysis
  • Verification and validation testing
  • Medical devices or other regulated industries
  • Risk management and design reviews
  • Technical leadership and mentoring
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Medical device development experience
  • Familiarity with design controls, risk management, or regulated product development
  • Experience working on products that integrate hardware, electronics, and software
