Job summary

Genesis10 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for an onsite Salem, VA assignment. You will lead product initiatives from concept to production, partnering with Design Engineering to deliver high-performance engineered products.

You will apply SolidWorks and GD&T to create manufacturable designs, manage cross-functional teams, and drive validation testing while pursuing cost, reliability, and quality improvements for a global transportation technology company.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 8+ years in mechanical design and product development.
• 8+ years using 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred).
• Experience managing projects from concept to production.
• Strong GD&T, tolerancing, materials, processes, and DFM/DFA knowledge.
• Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and ownership of projects.
• Clear communication and collaboration abilities.
• Self-motivated with ownership mindset.
• Passion for high-performance engineered products.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end new product development from concept to production.
• Define objectives aligned with technical and business goals.
• Develop plans, timelines, and allocate resources.
• Drive cross-functional accountability across teams.
• Identify challenges and implement solutions.
• Create manufacturable designs for demanding environments.
• Translate concepts into SolidWorks models and 2D drawings.
• Ensure designs meet customer, regulatory, and performance specs.
• Seek continuous improvements in performance, cost, and reliability.
• Define and execute engineering validation tests.
• Analyze test data and implement design changes.
• Document plans and results clearly.
• Select suppliers to support innovation.
• Incorporate customer feedback into product improvements.
• Apply Lean principles to improve design-to-production flow.
• Maintain technical documentation and product literature.
• Communicate design intent and progress to stakeholders.
