Job summary

Applied Materials in Benicia, CA seeks a senior mechanical engineer to identify and troubleshoot a wide range of complex mechanical issues with limited supervision. You will lead engineering projects, develop layouts and specifications, and communicate with customers on challenging technical topics.

Design and implement tooling, fixtures, and processes; generate product specs; perform analyses; and contribute to the product life cycle from concept through manufacturing. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 7–10 years of mechanical engineering experience.
• Strong CAD skills and GD&T knowledge.
• Experience with sheet metal design and materials selection.
• Proven ability to lead projects and communicate with customers.

Responsibilities

• Identify and troubleshoot a wide range of complex mechanical problems with limited supervision.
• Lead or execute engineering projects, including development of key suppliers.
• Develop, design, or modify engineering layouts, schematics, or drawings/specifications.
• Interact with internal and external customers on technical issues.
• Implement concepts for a range of product issues and solutions.
• Design and implement tooling, fixturing, and processes; enable handling, assembly and disassembly of parts; establish standards across processes; serve as a technical expert.
• Generate product specifications.
• Define, coordinate, perform and generate engineering test reports; review engineering documentation; perform complex engineering analyses.
• Clearly communicate complex concepts and influence various perspectives.
