Job summary

Applied Materials, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in Santa Clara, CA, to apply physics, mathematics, and materials science to resolve complex mechanical problems and support design projects throughout the product life cycle.

You will oversee manufacturing and installation processes, coordinate procurement and assembly of components, and work on tooling, fixturing, and standards across operations. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• 7–10 years of experience in mechanical engineering.
• Expertise in CAD software, thermodynamics, sheet metal design, material selection, manufacturing methods, GD&T, and DFA principles.

Responsibilities

• Identify and troubleshoot complex mechanical problems with minimal supervision.
• Lead or contribute to engineering projects and supplier development.
• Develop and modify engineering layouts, schematics, or drawings.
• Communicate with customers and internal teams on mechanical issues.
• Design and implement custom tooling and fixtures for production.
• Generate product specifications and test reports.
• Coordinate procurement and assembly of mechanical components.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards throughout life cycle.
