Your Opportunity

This role involves mechanical engineering work on water resource projects, including power, water, wastewater, and light industrial projects. Candidates should possess strong computer, writing, and communication skills, and work well within a team. The position involves collaboration with senior engineers on multidisciplinary projects, including development, modernization, and rehabilitation of hydro-mechanical equipment for hydropower and water resource projects. Focus areas include hydraulic turbines, speed governing systems, synchronous generators, turbine shut-off valves, and ancillary systems, with some travel required.

Your Key Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate with other engineering disciplines under the guidance of senior engineers.
  2. Perform calculations for mechanical system components using standard and proprietary software.
  3. Conduct planning studies, detailed analyses, and design services related to hydro-mechanical equipment.
  4. Prepare technical specifications for procurement, design, and installation of turbine-generators and auxiliary systems.
  5. Review vendor drawings, calculations, procedures, and reports.
  6. Support site activities during equipment commissioning and testing.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  1. Leadership and collaboration skills within project teams.
  2. Strong understanding of mechanical engineering concepts and effective communication skills.
  3. Experience with FEA, CFD, and 3D modeling is advantageous.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  5. Experience with powerhouse equipment design, commissioning, and testing.
  6. Knowledge of hydroelectric power plant components and water control structures.
  7. Additional experience in turbine-generator design, risk assessment, and hydro rehabilitation is a plus.
  8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  9. Knowledge of safety standards and equipment costs.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required; Master’s preferred.
  • PE license or eligibility is preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of related experience required.
Additional Information

Work environment includes office settings and potential fieldwork in challenging conditions. Travel is typically 10-20%. Compensation ranges from $112,300 to $168,500, based on qualifications and location. We offer a dynamic work environment where talented professionals can make a meaningful impact.
