Persona AI, based in Houston, TX, seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer to shape the design of its humanoid robots and influence the engineering culture. You will shepherd concepts from sketches through CAD modeling, prototyping, manufacturing, testing, and field deployment at industrial sites.

Candidates should have 5+ years in mechanical design for robotics or related fields, with strong CAD, prototyping, and DFM capabilities.

Qualifications

Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Robotics, Biomechatronics, Mechatronics, or related fields.
5+ years of experience designing mechanical systems in consumer products, robotics, aerospace, medical, automotive, or similar fields.
Proven track record shipping products to market, ideally at scale.
Experience designing for high-volume mass manufacturing DFM processes such as injection molding, sheet metal, stamping, casting, composites, or CNC machining.
Hands-on prototyping experience and knowledge of manufacturing techniques and material selection.
Proficient CAD user (Onshape, SolidWorks, Catia, Creo, Fusion, etc.) with emphasis on precise, scalable designs.
Strong mechanical fundamentals and analytical/problem-solving skills (FEA, hand calculations).
Collaborative mindset, clear communication, and ability to work across teams (Electrical, Software, Controls, UX/UI).
Understanding of tolerance analysis and GD&T.
Attention to detail and craftsmanship in fit and finish.

Responsibilities

Create and refine mechanical designs for advanced humanoid robotics, including actuators, manipulators, and integrated systems.
Own designs from initial sketches through CAD modeling, prototyping, manufacturing, testing, and deployment.
Conduct simulations, structural analyses, and performance evaluations to optimize system functionality.
Generate documentation: CAD drawings, block diagrams, test plans, fabrication and assembly instructions.
Interface with external manufacturing partners to optimize designs for manufacturing, testing, and assembly.
Engage hands-on in the lab to transform designs into production systems via rapid iterative cycles.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration across hardware, software, controls, and UI.
Address and solve challenging engineering problems daily, advancing robotics technology.
