Job summary

Karman Industries in Torrance, CA is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead design and development of electric heat pumps for industrial process heat electrification. You will own mechanical and thermal hardware from concept through prototyping, testing, and production.

Responsibilities include system architecture, CAD modeling (Siemens NX), performance analysis, and collaboration with manufacturing. Requires 3+ years in mechanical hardware design and strong hands-on problem solving.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in mechanical hardware or systems design.
• Strong CAD skills, preferably Siemens NX.
• Deep understanding of mechanical fundamentals, materials, manufacturing, structure, and testing.
• Hands‑on experience building hardware in a professional, project, or personal setting.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with good communication.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical and thermal systems for heat pump products from concept to production.
• Own system architecture, requirements, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing support.
• Create and manage CAD assemblies and detailed designs for prototype and production hardware.
• Develop first-principles models to evaluate hardware performance and limitations.
• Collaborate with internal manufacturing and external partners to iterate designs.
