Job summary

AIM is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design core mechanical systems enabling autonomous machines to operate safely in harsh environments. You will own subsystems from concept through production, interfacing with electrical, autonomy, software, and field teams to ensure robust, field-ready designs.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of mechanical engineering and product development experience.
• Strong fundamentals in machine design, structural and thermal analysis.
• Proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks/OnShape).
• Experience with component-level FEA and mechanical simulation.
• Hands-on prototyping, bench/field testing, and failure analysis.

Responsibilities

• Own major mechanical subsystems such as sensor suites, enclosures, mounts, brackets, housings and protection systems.
• Create concepts for manufacturable, field-serviceable solutions.
• Translate customer needs into mechanical architectures across machine platforms.
• Produce high-quality CAD and detailed production drawings.
• Perform advanced mechanical analysis for fatigue, vibration, shock, and thermal considerations.
• Prototype designs and execute verification plans including ingress and vibration testing.
• Collaborate with EE, SWE, Autonomy, TPMs, Deployment Engineers and OEM partners.
• Mentor junior engineers and improve validation practices.
