Job summary

Amazon Robotics is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to develop hardware designs for robotic systems and optimize existing hardware for performance and customer experience. The role emphasizes analytical problem solving, strong mechanical design fundamentals, and rapid prototyping.

You will work with interdisciplinary teams to move designs from concept to production, define system architectures, and validate designs with experiments and tests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience.
• Experience communicating technical concepts clearly with visuals.
• Experience defining system architectures and evaluating tradeoffs.
• Proven ability to build prototypes to advance design thinking.
• SolidWorks CAD experience and good part and assembly design practices.
• Understanding of mechanical engineering principles and lifecycle execution.
• Experience completing tasks to meet milestones from concept to delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead hardware designs for emerging robotic systems from concept to production.
• Collaborate with Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Quality teams and vendors.
• Write requirements, specifications, design verification plans, and test procedures.
• Demonstrate thorough engineering analysis and cradle-to-grave ownership.
• Design holistic hardware solutions for ambiguous problems with evolving requirements.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver automation solutions.
• Create DOE studies and drive cross-functional automation of experiments.
