Job summary

Mainspring Energy seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to advance electrical enclosures and cables while improving system performance. You will lead projects from requirements to testing, coordinating reviews and releases to ensure subsystems meet stringent technical targets with potential for direct reports.

The ideal candidate combines strong mechanical design skills with thermal modeling, CFD/FEA know-how, and collaboration across engineering teams to deploy robust, cost-effective

Qualifications

• Degree: BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution. Senior: BS + 8 years or MS + 6 years.
• Proven ownership of electrical enclosure and/or cable design from initial design to launch.
• Strong expertise in sheet metal design for medium-volume production and design-for-manufacturability challenges.
• Solid understanding of electrical engineering principles and thermal modeling for system integration.
• Extensive experience in SolidWorks and PDM; CFD/FEA experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own design, optimization, and execution of electrical hardware, balancing cost reduction, safety improvements, and system-level reliability.
• Collaborate with reliability and test teams to validate systems and components with fast iteration cycles.
• Deploy new designs into production, collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet performance and manufacturability requirements.
• Develop electrical hardware, including requirements, prototyping, testing, iteration, and tooling, ensuring milestones are met.
