Job summary

Val-Matic invites a Senior Engineer I to lead defined engineering efforts, own technical outcomes for moderately complex products, and collaborate with cross-functional partners in our Elmhurst, IL facility.

This role emphasizes design, analysis, and problem-solving with strong CAD/FEA/CFD skills, mentoring opportunities for junior engineers, and a clear path toward advanced engineering responsibilities within the company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university is required.
• Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline preferred.
• Professional Engineering (PE) registration preferred.
• Typically 6+ years of progressive engineering experience in manufacturing or durable goods environments.
• Ability to independently execute engineering tasks and contribute to project outcomes.
• Solid foundation in mechanical design, materials, manufacturing processes, and engineering fundamentals.
• Working knowledge of engineering analysis methods, including FEA and CFD.

Responsibilities

• Owns technical outcomes for assigned components, subsystems, or projects with moderate complexity.
• Applies independent engineering judgment to design decisions, analyses, and problem resolution.
• Escalates complex issues and contributes to resolution.
• Participates in medium-scale engineering projects, contributing to planning, execution, and delivery.
• Provides input to project schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
• Coordinates activities with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and other stakeholders.
• Develops and reviews mechanical designs, drawings, specifications, and calculations.
• Performs analyses including FEA and CFD with guidance as needed.
• Supports verification/validation, test planning, and documentation.
• Guides junior engineers and coworkers.
