Job summary

Ecotope in Seattle is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III/IV to lead design, research, develop, test, demonstrate, and verify performance of innovative decarbonization technologies for the building sector.

The role focuses on collaborating across disciplines, applying first-principles physics to energy use in buildings, and delivering cost-effective, high-quality engineering solutions while meeting project budgets and timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with 4+ years of experience or a master’s with 3+ years.
• PE license or EIT in progress toward licensure.
• Familiarity with building codes and green building rating systems (LEED, ESDS, LBC).
• Proficiency with AutoCAD 2D, Revit, Trane/Trace, Microsoft 365, Bluebeam Revu.

Responsibilities

• Lead design projects from initiation to completion, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective engineering solutions.
• Demonstrate and validate new technologies through demonstration projects and testing.
• Help develop codes, standards, and programs for scaling proven technologies.
• Delegate assignments to staff to meet deliverables on time.
