Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design in Philadelphia, PA seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Building Engineering Services group. You will contribute to design of low to mid-rise new construction projects and renovations, collaborating with engineers and architects to optimize energy use and occupant comfort.

The role involves designing HVAC and plumbing systems, performing calculations, and coordinating with the project team from concept through construction.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering.
• 4–10 years’ experience in building engineering.
• EIT certification required; PE license desirable.
• Advanced skill in Revit.
• Strong HVAC engineering principles and calculations.
• Knowledge of codes such as IBC/IMC/IPC/IECC/ASHRAE/NFPA.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Create and assess project designs.
• Perform engineering calculations with software, spreadsheets, and hand calculations.
• Create and review HVAC and Plumbing design documents in Revit or AutoCAD.
• Select equipment and write specifications.
• Perform quality control tasks.
• Train and guide other disciplines and junior engineers.
• Perform site visits and survey mechanical components of existing buildings.
• Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs.
• Prepare proposals and budgeting for deliverables.
• Communicate effectively to improve processes and project outcomes.
• Attend training seminars to develop engineering knowledge and business skills.
