Job summary

Intuitive in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking an engineer to design and develop in-house manufacturing equipment for high-volume automation across the Multiport Accessories Process Engineering organization. The role covers concept through fabrication, testing, qualification, and production release, with emphasis on mechanical design fundamentals and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop in-house manufacturing equipment, automation systems, tooling, and fixtures from concept through release to production.
• Translate process needs into equipment requirements, specifications, and acceptance criteria.
• Develop 3D models, drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
• Integrate mechanical designs with robotics, sensors, motors, pneumatics, motion control, machine vision, and safety systems.
• Evaluate and select OEMs and system integrators based on capabilities and project needs.
• Develop specifications for outsourced equipment and oversee through design, build, testing, installation, and qualification.
• Lead equipment design reviews, risk assessments, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
• Guide equipment projects through design control, changes, qualification, and release processes.
• Develop testing strategies, acceptance criteria, qualification protocols, and calibration procedures.
• Apply CPk, Gauge R&R, tolerance analysis, and quality tools to improve capability and reliability.
• Provide equipment-related technical support for production operations and continuous improvement.
• Provide mentorship to engineers, technicians, and cross-functional team members.
