Job summary

Germfree is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer in Ormond Beach, FL to own the mechanical and airflow architecture for our pharmacy, cleanroom, and isolator products. This senior individual contributor role focuses on solving complex technical challenges and shaping technology strategy without people management.

You will collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, operations, and executives to deliver innovative equipment that protects patients and professionals worldwide.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Mechanical Engineering required or equivalent.
• PE license preferred; licensure valued for technical leadership.
• 10+ years in product development involving engineered equipment.
• Strong expertise in mechanical design, sheet metal, welded assemblies, and rotating equipment.
• Deep understanding of airflow, pressure‑drop analysis, and mechanical integration.
• Proficient with 3D CAD (Solid Edge or SolidWorks).

Responsibilities

• Own the mechanical and airflow architecture for next‑gen pharmacy hoods, isolators, containment systems and cleanroom tech.
• Lead design of next‑generation products with scalable platforms and standardized architectures.
• Solve complex airflow, filtration, and mechanical design challenges across portfolios.
• Evaluate and qualify new technologies and strategic suppliers.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to improve quality, cost, and throughput.
• Mentor engineers through reviews, guidance, and problem solving.
