Overview
Responsible for using mechanical engineering principles to design, develop, customize, implement, test and/or sustain TDW products and services solutions for customer applications. Works with a team on problems of a significant scope and complexity - may architect product design, act as a lead or subject matter expert on a project and provide mentoring to other engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
Applies knowledge of engineering principles to design components, products, tests and systems.
Produces technical deliverables (e.g. 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, test reports, analysis reports, design calculations, tolerance analysis, etc.). Assists with prototype assemblies.
Creates or manages creation of product documents (e.g. build and/or operating/maintenance manuals).
Completes or facilitates engineering change requests that provide needed improvements to documentation and design.
Carries out and directs component and assembly design tasks and produces test plans for the designs. Oversees and performs design verification tests.
Works with system level engineering to assist in planning projects and assessing technical feasibility. Leads technical presentations and progress reports.
Experience
Engineering specific work experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Extensive skills in 3D modeling, tolerance analysis, GD&T, FEA, DFMEA, manufacturing processes, problem solving tools and machine design principles. Familiarity with various manufacturing processes and machining methods
Demonstrated experience and proficiency with FEA software (simulation and ANSYS preferred) and solid modeling software (e.g. Seimens NX, SolidWorks, etc.)
Understanding of continuous improvement methodologies (e.g. DFM/A, Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)
Experience with PLM system, software (e.g. TeamCenter, MasterControl), and engineering change processes
Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written
Competent with MS office
