Job summary

NEXTAFF of Beaverton is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for an onsite role in Graniteville, SC. The position focuses on production-floor support, project leadership, and continuous improvement within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The role requires a BS in Mechanical Engineering and at least 5 years of experience, with strong 3D modeling skills and proficiency in SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, and Vault.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Minimum of 5 years of mechanical engineering experience.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong 3D modeling experience with SolidWorks and Inventor.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the mechanical subject matter expert for one or more areas of the plant.
• Spend approximately 80% of time on the production floor supporting operations.
• Lead continuous improvement and corrective action projects.
• Provide technical support to internal customers.
• Manage projects including new machine installations and equipment upgrades.
• Analyze project requirements and resolve design and engineering challenges.
• Oversee project execution to ensure safety, quality, budget, and timeline adherence.
• Ensure compliance with safety objectives and legal requirements.
• Monitor and evaluate existing systems and recommend improvements.
• Lead mechanical projects through design, fabrication, implementation, testing (FAT), commissioning, and daily operation.
• Develop and manage engineering drawings using AutoCAD Mechanical, Inventor, and Vault
• Create designs, bills of materials, and spare parts lists
• Work closely with vendors and manage external contractors
• Conduct equipment risk assessments and implement safety countermeasures
• Support machine start-up, commissioning, and daily operation

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer who wants to join a stable and growth-focused manufacturing organization in Graniteville, SC. This is an onsite role working 4 ten-hour shifts (4x10s), with the majority of time spent on the production floor supporting machinery, projects, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position plays a critical role in providing mechanical expertise, leading projects, and supporting plant operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What You’ll Receive as Senior Mechanical Engineer:

• Salary: USD $100,000 – $120,000 / yr

What You’ll Need to Have as Senior Mechanical Engineer:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME)

• Minimum of 5 years of mechanical engineering experience

• Experience working in a manufacturing environment

• Strong 3D modeling experience (SolidWorks, Inventor)

• Experience with AutoCAD and Inventor software

• Strong fundamental knowledge of hydraulic and conveying systems

• Experience leading projects and working with cross-functional teams

• Strong understanding of machine design

• Ability to work independently and in team environments

• Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills

• Ability to work safely on a production floor with high temperatures, noise, and heavy machinery
