Amazon seeks an Electro-Mechanical Engineer to design, implement and launch novel robotics. The role emphasizes sensor selection and integration, design verification, and building prototypes for scalable deployment.

You will collaborate across mechanical, electrical and controls teams to push the boundaries of robotic manipulation, locomotion and human-robot interaction, while supporting manufacturing releases and customer deployments.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience selecting, designing and integrating sensors into robotic systems.
  • Experience with rotary encoders, force sensors, tactile sensors and non-contact sensors used in robotic grippers/hands.
  • Understanding sensor sensitivities and nonlinearities.
  • Durability and resilience of sensors.
  • Experience designing durable wire harnesses maintaining sensor signal integrity.
  • Hands-on experience crafting proof-of-concept models, building prototypes and debugging subsystems.

Amazon is seeking a talented and motivated Electro-Mechanical Engineer to design, implementation and launch novel robotics. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in sensor selection, design and integration. This candidate must have the ability to work well both independently and in a multidisciplinary team setting.

Key job responsibilities
  • Author functional requirements, design verification plans and test procedures
  • Execute product designs which meet the requirements

Basic Qualifications
  • Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures
  • 10+ years of experience selecting, designing and integrating sensors into robotic systems.
  • Expert in rotary encoders, force sensors, tactile sensors and non-contact sensors typically found in robotic grippers/hands
  • Deep understanding of sensor sensitivities (e.g. to thermal conditions, specular conditions, etc) and nonlinearities
  • Understanding of the durability and resilience of these sensors
  • Experience designing durable wire harnesses which maintain sensor signal integrity throughout operation
  • Hands on experience crafting proof-of-concept models, building prototypes and debugging subsystems
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
  • Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production
  • Experience with the project management of technical projects
  • Experience designing and debugging tooled (sheetmetal, cast, injection molded,etc) components
  • Ability to support domestic and international travel as required by the program
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with Mechanical, Electrical and Controls engineers
  • Proficiency with Product Lifecycle Management PLM software and ECO’s

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
