A leading engineering firm in Texas is seeking a qualified individual to provide technical guidance to the Engineering Team, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and leading design efforts on large-scale projects. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, an active Professional Engineering License, and over 12 years of experience in the field. Qualifications

  • 12+ years practical experience in designing and developing projects from concept to completion.
  • Detailed understanding of design and systems within all MEP markets.
  • Thorough understanding of Building Codes and Construction Standards.
  • Excellent analytical and technical writing skills.
  • Strong verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to lead design charrettes and mentor engineers.
  • 12+ years of practical design experience from concept to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards and specifications.
  • Identify design options to satisfy client requirements and minimize costs.
  • Develop and distribute methods for solving complex engineering problems.
  • Write technical narratives to capture design standards and lessons learned.
  • Provide input for project scheduling and budgeting.
  • Provide direction for on-site field surveys to collect or deliver design data.
  • Write technical narratives to capture design standards and constructability input.
  • Contribute to project scheduling and budgeting related to engineering activities.
  • Maintain standards for engineering calculations and drawing content.
  • Input and manage project data in Brandt systems.
  • Maintain timely oral and written technical reports.
  • Travel requirements: <20%.

Job description

Position Summary

Provide technical guidance to Engineering Team in the development of standards, projects, and people. Provide ongoing technical guidance and engineering issue resolution to field teams as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, codes, specifications and design instruction.
  • Identify design, process and equipment options that can satisfy client requirements, minimize costs and limit potential operational problems.
  • Teach others how to interface directly with other disciplines and coordinate with client personnel, contractors, architects, and other project team members to ensure value engineering and the delivery of high-quality projects within the prescribed time frames.
  • Provide guidance on presentations when necessary.
  • Develop and distribute methods for providing solutions for complex engineering problems and identifying the most efficient and acceptable approach to executing a broad range of design activities.
  • Provide direction for preparation of on-site field surveys to collect or deliver design and engineering data.
  • Write technical narratives to capture design standards, lessons learned, and constructability input.
  • Provide input for project scheduling and budgeting related to engineering activities.
  • Develop and maintain standards for engineering calculations, drawing presentation and content, and proper incorporation of external input.
  • Understand and assist with the input and output of accurate project data in Brandt systems.
  • Maintain timely and accurate oral and written technical reports regarding assigned engineering activities.
  • Perform additional assignments as requested/needed.
  • Travel Requirements: <20%
What you’ll need to be successful
  • Detailed understanding of design and systems within all MEP markets (i.e. New Work, Industrial, and Existing Buildings)
  • LEED-accredited Professional certification strongly preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering and design techniques plus thorough understanding of all MEP engineering disciplines
  • Thorough understanding of Building Codes and Construction Standards
  • Excellent analytical and technical writing skills
  • Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to efficiently review and critique construction documents
  • Ability to lead design charrettes and guide Engineering Team to efficient project development
  • Ability to accurately lead MEP design efforts on large‑scale projects independently
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
  • Advanced computer proficiency, including MS Office
  • Ability to foster and develop less‑experienced engineers
