Job summary

Echodyne is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to join our fast-growing team in the United States.

The role focuses on electro-mechanical product design, thermal and environmental considerations, and tight collaboration with RF, Microwave, and Antenna engineering teams to enable production-ready solutions. The candidate will leverage advanced SolidWorks skills, GD&T expertise, and thermal/modal analysis experience to deliver robust designs across a range of radar sensors and packaging challenges.

Qualifications

• Senior-level mechanical design experience for electro-mechanical products.
• Knowledge of the mechanical considerations of PCB design and packaging.
• Ability to advise RF, Microwave, Digital & Antenna teams on constraints (mechanical, environmental, thermal).

The company combines the patented technology of metamaterials with powerful software to create a radar sensor with unprecedented performance at commercial price points. Echodyne offers its radars to companies working in Automotive, Transportation, Critical Infrastructure Protection, Border Security, Smart Cities, Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS), and Airspace Management including Urban Air Mobility (UTM). Echodyne is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to join our fast-growing team.

REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

• Senior-engineer level experience in mechanical engineering design for electro-mechanical products, with deep understanding of thermal, electrical, and environmental considerations.
• Knowledge of the mechanical considerations of PCB design and PCB packaging.
• Ability to advise RF, Microwave, Digital & Antenna engineering teams on constraints (mechanical, environmental, thermal) & work to a production solution.
• Advanced-to-expert level user of Solidworks.
• Knowledge in implementing, interpreting and explaining ASME Y14.5 GD&T.
• Knowledge in hand and computational analysis for modal, stress and thermal considerations.

DESIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE (Looking for one or more as a complement to the core skills)

• Proficient experience in ANSYS/similar analysis software for thermal and structural computational analyses.
• Experience leading the mechanical design of RF or millimeter-wave transmit/receive modules, or equivalent PWA-based transceivers, at x-band or above through qualification & product launch.
• Certified in ASME Y14.5 GD&T
• Experience designing and certifying products for IP rating requirements.
• Knowledge of various production processes and ability to tailor design to those processes to meet design to cost objectives.
• Relationships with local fabrication shops.
• Knowledge and/or experience with design approaches for RF isolation requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

• BS, MS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, with +5 years experience
• Eligible to handle export-controlled data (ITAR, EAR) Echodyne’s technology is export controlled by the U.S. Government and we must evaluate an applicant’s eligibility to handle export-controlled information or obtain required Government authorizations. This is an exempt role. The expected annual salary range for this role is $124,733 — $187,048 USD
