Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in the Dallas area to lead mechanical design on complex facilities. You will coordinate a multidisciplinary team, manage client relationships and chair design reviews with engineers, architects, and project managers to ensure compliance and timely delivery.

The role requires a PE license and at least 10 years of mechanical systems experience in commercial or institutional buildings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 10 years of mechanical system design experience in commercial or institutional buildings.
• Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng.) license.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, MS Project and AutoCAD.
• Demonstrated leadership, previous team coordination and project management experience.
• Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the work of Mechanical Engineers with a multidisciplinary team throughout project development.

• Assume the mechanical lead on multiple projects.
• Participate in reviews with governing agencies for code compliance.
• Conduct schematic, design development and contract document work sessions at project sites with the PM, PA and other disciplines.
• Coordinate workload across project development to meet schedules.
• Track project finances and adjust efforts to stay on schedule.
• Collaborate with PM, Regional Controller and Regional Director for reviews.
• Perform other duties as required.

Senior Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities

• Coordinate the work of Mechanical Engineers with the balance of a multidisciplinary team throughout the entire project’s development.
• Establish client relations, and participate in marketing, design and production meetings regarding mechanical systems.
• Assume the mechanical lead on many projects.
• Participate in reviews with governing agencies for code compliance.
• Conduct schematic, design development and contract document work sessions at project sites in conjunction with the Project Manager, Project Architect and other disciplines.
• Coordinate workload throughout project development to complete documents on schedule.
• Track the financial aspects of projects and adjust the work efforts with the team to ensure completion within the agreed‑upon schedule.
• Work with the Project Manager, Regional Controller and Regional Director for project reviews with corporate management as needed.
• Perform other duties as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Architectural Engineering with a mechanical emphasis.
• Experience in healthcare, science and technology and/or civic facilities.
