Job summary

HonorVet Technologies is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Chicago team, specializing in Critical Facilities and data center engineering design. This role requires consulting experience on mission-critical projects and hands-on design leadership.

You will work in a hybrid environment (in office Mon-Thu, 9 hours; Fri remote 4 hours), collaborate with clients, architects, and engineers, and contribute to major projects across multiple markets while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 8+ years of experience working in a consulting firm.
  • Senior-level experience with a background in the MEP Engineering Industry.
  • 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • PE required.
  • Hands-on design and CAD/Revit experience required.
  • Strong technical experience in mechanical engineering design.

Responsibilities

  • Create basic designs under the direction of the senior engineer and/or senior designer.
  • Develop specifications, system narratives, and system layouts for a variety of projects and project sizes.
  • Establish design standards, specifications, and criteria for projects.
  • Supervise preparation of reports and analysis of system options and building conditions.
  • Maintain interdisciplinary coordination with other trades and project consultants.
  • Monitor all correspondence between staff, clients, contractors, owners, and other project team members.
  • Supervise construction administration duties such as field reports, responses to RFIs, and processing bulletins and addenda.
  • Conduct periodic objective and comprehensive employee evaluations.
  • Participate in and contribute to the business unit Technical Leadership Committee.
  • Assist the Technical Manager and Chief Engineer with business unit technical training and staff mentoring.

Position Summary
