The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be a member of our engineering team, supporting the design, build, test, and validation of our Subsurface Compressor Systems™ (SCS). This position will require leadership and support of a broad range of product development and validation activities at the component, subsystem, and system levels. This position requires a hands‑on approach to problem solving as well as the use of closed form calculations for component design in high-speed rotating machinery applications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Generates 3D & 2D design solutions for Subsurface Compressor System technology and related components, including new designs and modification of existing designs
- Design validation through bench‑level testing and calculations
- The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be an integral part of the Change Review Board Process as an approver of changes, design details, and dispositioning of hardware.
- Evaluation and Dispositioning of supplier Non‑Conformances
- Component and assembly troubleshooting by using production and test hardware.
- Assist with first article builds of new designs by being a part of the assembly and test process.
- Generates supporting documentation (e.g., drawings, engineering changes, layouts, engineering reports, test plans, specifications, P&IDs etc.)
- Applies best manufacturing methods to the design including GD&T
- Performing Peer drawing checks is a critical part of this position.
- Conceptualizes new designs based on existing proven designs and innovations
- Performs technical calculations in the areas of mechanical design and packaging of high‑speed rotating machinery
- Ensures timely and correct technical release of drawings to meet project schedules
- Assists other project team members in cross‑functional activities when necessary
- Reviews drawings for completeness and accuracy
- Applies critical thinking to all steps
- Stack‑Up analyses of assemblies
- Manages assembly Bill of Materials and ensures its accuracy in PDM and ERP systems.
Skills, Experience, Education, and Abilities:
- BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in an Engineering Role
- 3+ years of experience with Solidworks 3D modeling software
- Strong knowledge of ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing including GD&T
- Experience with designing Turbomachinery components such as bearings and seals is desired.
- Understanding of Electro‑Mechanical design and component packaging
- Proven capability towards maintaining technical ownership of the design
- Proficient using hand calculations and FEA to validate design decisions.
- Proficient using and creating closed‑form calculations for hardware design
- Experience in rotating machinery is desired
- Experience with high‑speed turbo machinery and/or permanent magnet motors is desired
- Project management, coordination, and supervision skills is desired.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:
This position will be mostly in an office atmosphere; however, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will be expected to support the build and test of products in the production area. Personal protective equipment should be worn in designated shop floor areas.
