Motivo Engineering, LLC is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to lead hands-on design and in-house build of advanced electro-mechanical systems.

You will work on rapid prototyping and complete vehicle-level projects across mobility, aerospace, robotics, and clean energy sectors. The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, design validation, and delivering high-quality solutions within tight project timelines.

Qualifications

• BS in engineering required; MS preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of direct engineering experience in automotive industry or engineering services.
• Formula SAE Team Lead experience preferred.
• Must be a generalist with systems-level design experience.
• Ability to multi-task with budget and timing awareness.
• Startup/small business experience valued.

Responsibilities

About the role

Motivo is looking for a passionate Sr. Mechanical Engineer who is hands-on, has a strong technical background, and enjoys being part of a tight-knit engineering team. We work on cool, fast paced design projects and are responsible for the design, engineering, and build in-house. We also get to test the designs, which is a lot of fun since our projects include complete vehicle engineering and builds, computer vision & machine learning with applications in AgTech and Industrial Automation, aerospace mechanical and control systems, connected car and vehicle telematics, and large battery systems. We complete projects in weeks or months, not years, so we get to work on a lot of fun projects in a typical year. We are passionate about our work and strive for excellence within each project's unique constraints. Qualifications

Capabilities and Skills

• Development of complex systems with interaction across multiple engineering disciplines
• Advanced knowledge/skills in CAD modeling using a major software package (e.g., SolidWorks, ProE, UG-NX, or CATIA V5)
• Reading and interpreting engineering specifications
• Development and/or editing top level system architecture
• Structural design, analysis, and optimization
• Generate detailed design and technical drawings of systems, components, and interfaces
• Engineering support of component manufacturing and build activities
• Presentation of results and recommendations to internal team and external customers
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Work collaboratively across multiple engineering disciplines
• Experience in rapid prototyping of electro-mechanical systems from concepts to functional prototypes is a plus
• Technical mentorship for new engineers

Required Attributes

• BS in engineering required, MS or higher preferred
• Minimum 5 years of direct engineering experience within the automotive industry and/or engineering services
• Formula SAE Team Lead experience is preferred
• Must be a generalist with involvement in systems level design and experience working in a cross-functional engineering team
• Ability to multi-task and demonstrate attention to quality, timing, awareness of budget constraints, and other program management considerations
• Ability to plan, manage and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering efforts
• Past experience in a startup/small business environment
• Strong ability to connect and communicate with clients and project teams
• "Get it done" Attitude
• Ability to travel as required (less than 10%)

• Base Salary Range: $100,000 - $125,000
• Salary is dependent on experience, knowledge, and interview performance.
