The Role

Xos is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering team! In this role, you’ll play a key part in the design, development, and prototyping of mechanical systems and components across our electric vehicle, chassis, and Hub product lines.

We’re looking for a hands‑on engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, bringing new ideas to life, and collaborating across teams. From developing and testing prototypes to troubleshooting mechanical systems in the field, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to projects throughout the product development lifecycle.

This is also a customer‑facing role, offering opportunities to work directly with customers to provide technical expertise, resolve engineering challenges, and support continuous product improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in the fabrication, assembly, testing, and validation of mechanical prototypes, collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams to evaluate designs and implement improvements.
  • Develop detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation using CAD software.
  • Support the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical engineering issues, including providing on‑site technical support at customer locations.
  • Engage directly with customers to evaluate product performance, address technical concerns, and collaborate with internal teams to implement effective solutions.
  • Conduct inspections and quality checks to ensure compliance with engineering standards, specifications, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation, including design modifications, test results, technical reports, and project updates.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, suppliers, and external partners to support successful project execution and continuous improvement.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience in automotive, manufacturing, or related applications.
  • Experience with mechanical design, prototyping, testing, and product development preferred.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, design standards, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in CAD software; CATIA experience highly preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and develop practical solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, balance competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and engage directly with customers.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 20% of the time, or as business needs require, to support customers and engineering activities at various locations.
