HDR, Inc. is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services team in Atlanta. You will lead mechanical design efforts for complex commercial and institutional projects and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality documents.

You will establish client relations, oversee schematic through contract document phases, and ensure designs align with schedules, budgets, and code requirements. Local candidates are preferred and PE licensure is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years in mechanical system design for commercial or institutional buildings.
  • Professional Engineer license (PE or P.Eng).
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, MS Project and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the work of Mechanical Engineers within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Establish client relations and participate in project meetings on mechanical systems.
  • Lead mechanical design on multiple projects.
  • Participate in code compliance reviews with authorities.
  • Conduct schematic, design development, and contract document work sessions on site.
  • Monitor project workload, schedule, and budget with the Project Manager.

HDR is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services team in Atlanta. In the role of Senior Mechanical Engineer, we'll count on you to:

  • Coordinate the work of Mechanical Engineers with the balance of a multidiscipline team throughout the entire project's development
  • Establish client relations, and participate in the marketing, design and production meetings with regard to mechanical systems
  • Assume the mechanical lead on many projects
  • Participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance
  • Conduct schematic, design development and contract document work sessions at project sites in conjunction with the Project Manager, Project Architect and other disciplines
  • Coordinate workload through the entire project development to complete documents on schedule
  • Track the financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust the work efforts with the team to ensure that the work is completed within the parameters of the agreed-upon schedule
  • Work with the Project Manager, Regional Controller and Regional Director for project reviews with corporate management as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in architectural engineering with mechanical emphasis
  • Healthcare, science, and technology and/or mission critical experience
  • Plumbing and HVAC design experience
  • Bluebeam and REVIT experience are highly desired
  • Local candidates are preferred

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • A minimum of 10 years in mechanical system design of commercial or institutional buildings
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, MS Project and AutoCAD
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, previous team coordination and project management experience
