Parallel Robotics in Ann Arbor, MI is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own sub-systems or full product platforms, driving the execution, mechanical design, validation, and transfer to manufacturing. You will bridge R&D concepts and formal production with internal teams and external manufacturers.

We value candidates with proven experience taking products through the design-to-production cycle in regulated industries, and with strong leadership in cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
• Experience taking mechanical hardware from development through production.
• Background in regulated industries such as aerospace, healthcare, or automotive is preferred.

Responsabilités

• Own project objectives, schedules, budgets, and resources with DC/QMS compliance.
• Lead full product development lifecycle from requirements to production readiness.
• Design complex mechanical systems and motion assemblies with SolidWorks and GD&T.
• Drive DFM for scalable production including CNC, molding, stamping, and additive processes.
• Perform kinematic, structural, and mechanical analyses for performance validation.
• Develop prototypes, test fixtures, and validation plans with hands-on testing.
• Manage relationships with suppliers and contract manufacturers for prototype and production builds.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in design reviews to uphold engineering excellence.
• Create and maintain design docs, reports, and patent support materials.

About Us

Parallel Robotics designs and builds advanced dexterity robotic systems for healthcare (surgical robotics), industrial automation, automotive, and space applications. We are looking to hire a results-driven, senior mechanical engineer with prior industry experience to lead the development of complex mechanical systems and own the entire engineering process from technical concepts, detailed design and analysis to scaled-up manufacturing.

About the Role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will serve as the complete owner of a sub-system, system, or full product platform, driving the execution, mechanical design, engineering validation, and transfer to manufacturing. You will bridge the gap between R&D concepts and formal production, working directly with internal team members as well as contract manufacturers and suppliers.

We are specifically seeking candidates with proven industry experience taking products through the formal design, manufacturing, and production release cycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Own project objectives, deliverables, schedules, budgets, and resources while ensuring compliance with Design Controls (DC) and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
• Lead the full product development lifecycle, including requirements definition, specifications, design, analysis, verification, and production readiness.
• Design complex mechanical systems, assemblies, mechanisms, structures, and motion systems using SolidWorks and GD&T standards.
• Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) efforts, optimizing designs for scalable production processes such as CNC machining, injection molding, metal stamping, additive manufacturing, and assembly.
• Perform engineering analyses including kinematics, motion studies, structural calculations, and mechanical performance evaluations.
• Develop prototypes, test fixtures, and validation plans; conduct hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and design iteration.
• Manage relationships with suppliers, contract manufacturers, and vendors to source components and support prototype and production builds.
• Mentor junior engineers, participate in technical design reviews, and contribute to a culture of engineering excellence.
• Create and maintain high-quality engineering documentation, including design specifications, technical reports, design review materials, and patent support documentation.

About You

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
• Proven experience bringing mechanical, electromechanical, or robotic hardware products from development through production.
• Experience working in regulated industries such as aerospace, healthcare, or automotive is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly through organized documentation, presentations, and design reviews.
• Proven leadership skills with experience driving technical decisions, coordinating cross-functional efforts, and leading small engineering teams.
