Job summary

Alarm.com is hiring a Senior Device Engineer - Mechanical in San Diego to own the mechanical design of consumer electronics from concept through mass production. You will collaborate on ID decisions, work with cross-functional teams across Asia and the U.S., and ensure designs are manufacturable and tested for quality in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in mechanical design for consumer electronics.
• Proficient in large-assembly 3D CAD (Creo).
• Experience with injection molding and other processes listed.
• Strong tolerance analysis, GD&T, DFM/DFA/DFX knowledge.
• Create manufacturing-ready drawings, BOMs, and RFQ packages.
• Experience with Asia-based vendors and cross-functional teams.
• Self-driven with good communication in English.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical design from concept to mass production.
• Lead large assembly design and manage complex CAD models.
• Build mockups and prototypes to validate concepts.
• Plan simulations and analyses; justify design choices.
• Coordinate ID integration across optical, acoustic, RF, and usability needs.
• Design parts for multiple manufacturing processes.
• Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and resolve DFM/ DFA/ DFX feedback.
• Prepare detailed 2D drawings, BOMs, and RFQ packages.
• Engage with tooling vendors and ODMs across Asia.
