Job summary

WSP is seeking a Mechanical Designer to contribute to the design of plumbing systems for complex building projects across multiple U.S. locations.

You will draft detailed layouts using AutoCAD and Revit, review client and internal standards, and collaborate with engineers, architects, and other disciplines to ensure coordinated, compliant designs. Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field.
• 9+ years in plumbing design for building systems.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit; familiarity with plumbing codes.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a team.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and layout of plumbing systems for facilities projects, including potable water, sanitary, storm, and specialty systems.
• Prepare detailed drawings and cost estimates using AutoCAD and Revit.
• Regularly review and apply client-specific and internal drafting standards to ensure full compliance and high-quality deliverables.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other disciplines to ensure coordinated and efficient designs.
• Follow QA/QC procedures and corrective-action requirements in all drafting work.
• Support project development from concept through construction, ensuring compliance with codes and standards.
• Incorporate future-ready solutions and sustainable practices into plumbing designs.
• Participate in site surveys and inspections to verify existing conditions and support design accuracy.
• Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and best practices in plumbing design.
